Shaun Danielli

I am an urban health systems and urban health policy specialist. He has spent the last 15 years leading city health and care transformation in London. He established the Centre for Urban Health & Healthcare at Imperial College London in 2026 with Prof Lord Ara Darzi. Prior to this, he was the Director of Population Health and Equalities, jointly appointed by Kings Health Partners and NHS South East London.  He is also a Research Fellow at the Institute of Global Health Innovation (IGHI) at Imperial College London, Researcher in Residence for the Mayor of London and a Trustee at London Sport. He was the founding Director of Healthy London Partnership (2015 -2020), Director for the review of health and care in London for the then Mayor of London Boris Johnson (2014-2015). Between 2008 – 2014 he led reviews and implementation of health and care across London, including implementing the major trauma system. His first role in the NHS was with Guys & St Thomas’ (2005-2008), establishing and leading a team in service improvement. Prior to 2005, Shaun spent 15 years in manufacturing (Airbus) and consultancy (PA Consulting and Cranfield University) leading system improvement projects, having initially trained as an engineer (MSc Cranfield University). He has transferred the improvement and systems approaches from manufacturing to health and health systems. His area of interest and applied research is in city and urban health transformation.
